With the emergence of the ability to heat and cool cloth seats, we do not really understand why auto makers are still using pleather rather than an upgraded cloth material that looks nicer.
Another complaint about the current vehicles is the insistence on having in-dash navigation. It has become a status symbol to have your navigation and entertainment controls on a 4-inch LCD screen installed into your dash. However, operating some of these systems can be more trouble than they are worth. And should that system break after your warranty has expired, the out-of-pocket repair cost is going to be so high you are probably just going to replace it with an aftermarket stereo and portable GPS system!

Paying for Options You Don’t Want?
The car buying process is hard enough and it does not matter if you are buying a car from Orlando Chevrolet or anywhere else for that matter. The process is time consuming, frustrating, confusing, and down right expensive. Sometimes it can be convenient to bundle some items. Many brands offer a “power package” which will include your power locks, windows, automatic transmission, and power mirrors. Those items are fairly standard and many consumers have come to expect that to already be included with the base model. Other packages might be called “Technology” or “Entertainment.” These will bundle your convenience features like dual-zone climate control, sun roof, auto life gate, power seats, in-dash navigation, and back seat entertainment. The dilemma and frustration comes into play when you want three out of the five options listed, but are stuck paying for features you really don’t want.

9 Cars That Could Be Safer
For as much money as you spend Mercedes Deals Washington, you would expect that it would be a safe choice for you and your passengers. However, it has just been brought to our attention that there are still nine vehicles that are being produced for 2011 without electronic stability control (ESC). Luckily, none of the cars from Concord Mitsubishi Dealers are on this hot list. There were quite a few vehicles back in 2010 that did not offer the safety technology as a standard feature, but laws that go into effect in 2012 will require that all vehicles come standard with ESC. What makes the fact that nine cars are lagging in the safety department even more frustrating is that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) just implemented new and improved crash test ratings because so many vehicles were receiving perfect scores, so they had to make the process more stringent to encourage further safety technology developments. There are safety regulations that go into effect in 2012 that will require ESC be a standard feature, so why are so many auto makers waiting until the last minute to include the technology?
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety compiled results that for 2010 approximately 85% of vehicles came standard with ESC. It was impressive that 100% of SUVs have the technology, but only 88% of cars include it. Cars are especially vulnerable in the event of a multiple car collision because they weigh considerably less than SUVs and trucks. The NHTSA estimates that it will cost consumers around $111 more to have the safety feature on cars, but that by making it mandatory, approximately 10,000 lives will be saved annually. The nine offenders for 2011 that do not offer ESC as a standard feature (and some don’t even offer it at all) include: Chevrolet Aveo, Dodge Caliber, Honda Civic, Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio, Mazda RX-8, Nissan Frontier, Nissan Versa, and Suzuki SX4.

GM recalls 13,780 vehicles;
GM has issued a recall for up to 13,00 vehicles after reports of potential fires in the vehicles. GM will be recalling Buick models free of charge. The recall comes on the eve of GM’s IPO which may be affected by the latest recall. Models sold at Gainesville Ford Dealers are not part of the recall. Subaru Decatur sells Subaru models which have not been affected by the recall. GM will be recalling vehicles that have a risk of fire. The leakage of power steering fluid may then cause a fire to be ignited in the engine. Chrysler is another automaker that will be issuing a recall for its Jeep Liberty vehicle models.
GM will be recalling Buick Lucerne models as well as Cadillac DTS vehicles. The recall follows the reports of two fires that are related to electric arcing that may have been triggered by a power steering fluid leak. There have been no injures thus far due to the leakage, however GM is looking to recall the affected vehicles as soon as possible to avoid injuries or accidents. GM investigated the problem and came to the conclusion that there were starter and alternator cables that are not installed correctly on the affected models that are touching the power steering line. GM has said that it will repair the vehicles which are still under warranty for free and the total affected number of vehicles is over 14,000.

But aside from that, the improvements have been few and far between for the rest of the line up.

Toyota Predicts More Sales;
Toyota has increased its year sales expectations as the yen improves. Income for Toyota may total 350 billion yen for 2010 ending on March 31 with an earlier estimate being at 340 billion yen. Generally speaking, another indicator of how well your car will retain its value is how much you paid for it in the first place. Usually the SUVs and luxury sedans cost a small fortune and they manage to retain a lot of that value over the course of ownership. There are always exceptions to every rule, and we see that with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the Saab 9-3. For the most part, the small compacts like the Kia Rio and Hyundai Accent are going to be the cars that lost their value quickly because they don’t have that much value to begin with.
