Chrysler IPO to possibly launch in 2012;
Chrysler may push its initial public offering into 2012 as the company rebounds from a recent bankruptcy in 2009. Chrysler’s CEO said that he does not know whether or not the company will host an IPO in 2012. Other automakers like Toyota have not filed bankruptcy in spite of challenging economic times throughout the world., and Toyota’s luxury models can be purchased at a Lexus Dealer Chantilly. Chrysler will offer an IPO to raise money to help the company pay off debts, similar to what GM did in 2010. More of Toyota’s luxury models can be purchased from Richmond Lexus Dealers. GM raised a substantial amount of money to help the company compete with domestic and foreign automakers such as Suzuki, whose latest models can be purchased from a PA Suzuki Dealership.
Chrysler’s CEO also said that it was reasonable to expect an IPO, but that an IPO was not a guaranteed thing for the company. Chrysler recently filed with the SEC and said that the company is ready to go public again. The CEO said that he wants to do it properly and that issuing securities takes time. In January, the CEO said that there would be an IPO held in the second half of 2011, but it seems as if this will not be occurring in 2011.
The IPO will depend on the need for liquidity at Chrysler as well as the UAW which must sell its stake in Chrysler in order for the company to hold an IPO. Fiat owns a 25 percent stake in Chrysler at the moment and can take a 10 percent further share in the company if sales goals are met in markets outside of the United States. At the moment the UAW owners 64 percent of Chrysler after Fiat increased it’s shares of the company. Sales in Brazil for the company are also ready to begin as Chrysler is expanding to new markets.

The new bill the chamber passed ensures that third parties have it more difficult to be awarded monies on product liability cases in Florida. The auto makers and manufacturers have one up on the board with this one. This is a bill that undos another bill from 2001. The bill passed in 2001 stated that in lawsuits alleging product defectiveness cannot hear the primary evidence of the case due to the fact of the product producing more harm and injury. The bill that was just passed, allows for the jury to hear the full story and not just the evidence stacked up in the case. One Republican voted against it and one Democrat voted for it. Other Democrats was leary due to the shift in medical costs they say. That it would be passed on to the taxpayers, in the end. On the case that had such a profound effect on all this was the Karen D’Amario case. She filed a lawsuit reflecting a bad relay switch on a fuel pump. Her son, Clifford Harris, 15 at the time was the passenger in a fatal automobile accident. The driver was his friend, Stanley Liveronois, was the driver who was intoxicated. Her son, Cliff, suffered fire to his body and lost three limbs. Stanley did not make it through the accident, he passed that night. Karen stated that the primary reasons to her son’s injuries were caused by the explosion of the fuel pump that had a defective relay switch.
From the evidence, the jury sided with Ford stating that it was caused by the collision that ruptured the oil pan in the car. That started the fire that caused so much damage and injuries to her son. In that case the Justices said that the jury was confused with hearing all of the evidence. The jury heard the driver was drunk and speeding instead of focusing on the product liability case. The jury’s verdict was overturned and further cases would exclude evidence that would allege enhanced injuries.
Republican Senator David Simmons from Maitland said that it is a bill that is a compromise. The Senate accepted an amendment to permit judges to exclude evidence if it is irrelevant or prejudicial such as a fact of the driver was drunk. The difference is the judge would make that decision on a case by case basis, not like the broad exclusion that was ordered by the Supreme Court. Some say that the old bill kept auto makers out of the state of Florida. That the businesses just want a fair playing field. You can take any part of a story and make it into something its not when the WHOLE truth is not told. I can see in the case with Karen D’Amario where the jury sided with Ford. If it was not for the passenger that was intoxicated driving the accident would of never happened nor would the fire started. Now if the fire started because they were just driving or whatever, then yes, Ford is responsible for all and any damages. Not when an accident started the domino effect.

Japanese earthquake reduces car exports;
The Japanese earthquake and tsunami has affected Japanese automakers including Toyota and Honda, and Honda models can be found at a Louisville Honda Dealership. The earthquake has devastated certain regions of Japan, and the auto industry of Japan is strongly affected by the earthquake and tsunami which has shut down plants in Japan’s northern region and threatened shipments of vehicles. Some models are exported from Japan while other models are produced nearer to the market.

The damage of the earthquake and tsunami causes logistical problems for many industries in Japan due to the transportation damage and other problems such as electrical power outages. Many Japanese citizens are currently without power, and the next few weeks will be focused on restoring power to these citizens and basic infrastructure so that commerce and trade can resume. The stock market in Japan is also negatively impacted as during the first day of sales stocks plummeted, and stocks for Japanese automakers have also dropped due to these problems. Many models are not affected by the tsunami but some are just as the Yaris, Scion models, and the Honda Insight.
