Presidential Wannabe Turns Hypocrite

Cap Fendig came to the defense of the Glynn County Code Enforcement Division for issuing tickets to local businesses for flying the US Flag.
His hypocritical statement to the Brunswick News stated:
“If you ask some of our veterans what they think about the flag, you would find that they don’t agree with the way the flags were being displayed,” he said. “They don’t like seeing it used for advertising purposes.”
This is the same politician that waved the flag in his political campaigns to garner support for is failed presidential bid. His website not only displays a picture of himself with the Flag but also uses a representation of it for advertising purposes not to mention the display of the flag on his home is in violation of county ordinance.
When is he getting a ticket?
Well it is known that politicians take sides with issues to appease constituents however it would appear that Fendig really did not think through his public statement before making it. The message he is sending with that statement is clear. It is ok for him to advertise waving the flag but not allowed for businesses that fill the County’s tax coffers.
A mixed message indeed. No wonder he only got 13 votes in New Hampshire.

Please refer to the US Dept of Veterans Affairs official website for guidelines for display of flag.
In doing so you will see the following guideline;
“Other Things Not to Do with the Flag”
“use the flag for advertising or promotion purposes…….or anything else intended for temporary use and discard.” The owners of the dealerships were in violation of not just flags(of course this was not reported in the news)but also pennants and other display material. They were given notice two weeks ago to notify them of violations. The quote I gave to the paper was not accurate or correct, a phone call to the reporter Emily Stranger would confirm the truth. I told her I was surprised about the requested removal of American flags and specifically asked her to call some Veterans because of the official guidelines posted by the VA affairs office. I also notified her that one dealer from Nissan had just called me (Monday night)previous to her call and I new nothing about the issue but had told the dealer I would follow up on the issue. (The dealer, Mr. Don Smith can confirm this time and phone call discussion). So whether you agree or not, I wanted to make sure that people saw the other side of the story and could judge for themselves on the issue.
As far as my home and the campaign for President of the United States, you would see that I followed the guidelines of the VA and I personally called the office in Washington to confirm the rules I should use in the use of the flag in the campaign in pictures and on campaign material.

That still does not take into account that the Flag that you have flying on your home violates Glynn County ordinance. If you are striving for technical validation of your point of view you need to live up to the standard as well.
Here is what the county code says:
Whether the flags being displayed at either dealership is advertising or a display of patriotism is very subjective and can be interpreted as seen fit for the debate.
You also state:
That is materially false in one instance that I am aware of.
It still does not change the fact in the eyes of your constituents you are wrong and it is hypocritical for you to violate the law for your personal agenda and ticket businesses for promoting theirs.
As a veteran I am appalled as well as are many other veterans. You picked the wrong line to draw in the sand.
