Luckily this week, the vehicles at Peoria VW are not affected by any recalls from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). But, the employees at NHTSA are always responding to consumer complaints and it is likely that sooner or later a recall will be issued that impacts current Nissan deals or some other usually reliable automotive brand; think back to Toyota and their unintended acceleration problems. Toyota was the car sweetheart of America and everyone trusted that brand with their lives and the lives of their family members. Now that workhorse reliable reputation is tainted and Toyota is still working to recover. Some dealerships have even refused to accept a Toyota as a trade in when someone is buying a new vehicle; it is unsure if Used Cars Fort Worth is one of those dealerships or not. Ford Motor Co. is one of the latest reliable auto makers to be affected by the awful red letters of the word “recall.”
The recall is already in full swing as we near the halfway point in July; the recall was set to begin in July but it has not been reported if all vehicle owners have been contacted or not. Approximately 30,000 models of the 2010 Transit Connect van will be recalled to dealerships for repair. Apparently, the interior liner that is above the driver’s head does not comply with federal standards put into place to protect the driver’s head. First off, who knew that there were such stringent and specific federal standards in place! After more testing, it was found that the pushpins used to hold the liner in place need to be replaced because they do not meet standards. Another source said that the affected models included those that were manufactured between December 2008 and May of 2010. It would be best if you own a Transit Connect van that you should check the NHTSA website to see if your particular model is on the recall list.
