The Jeep Grand Cherokee which is manufactured by Chrysler is currently under investigation. The model may have potential fire hazards after accidents. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a popular jeep model that is in competition with models sold at Cincinnati Chevrolet Dealers. Chrysler has not had major recalls for some time, and the latest news of a potential defect in its Jeep brand may be a big blow to the company as it attempts to rebound from bankruptcy. Jeep is looking into the problem and Chrysler has made it clear that the company will cooperate with the NHTSA as they investigate the issue. There have been some reported deaths for the potential defect, and the defect occurs when the vehicle is rear ended or when it is involved in an accident. The vehicle’s fuel tank has been shown to catch fire in some circumstances, and the reasons why it catches fire may be due to an improper or unsafe location.
Models from the years 1993-2004 were affected by the supposed defect, and there have been 13 deaths that may be related to the defect. Further investigation is necessary in order for the defect to be confirmed. Once a defect is confirmed, Chrysler will announce a recall of the affected models. Until then, Chrysler warned that there is no consensus on whether there really is a defect or not, and that the company will have to wait and see what the results of the investigation are before issuing a recall. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a popular SUV model and the recall may affect up to 3 million models.
