Chrysler IPO to possibly launch in 2012;

2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser lowrider 300x225 Chrysler IPO to possibly launch in 2012;Chrysler may push its initial public offering into 2012 as the company rebounds from a recent bankruptcy in 2009. Chrysler’s CEO said that he does not know whether or not the company will host an IPO in 2012. Other automakers like Toyota have not filed bankruptcy in spite of challenging economic times throughout the world., and Toyota’s luxury models can be purchased at a Lexus Dealer Chantilly. Chrysler will offer an IPO to raise money to help the company pay off debts, similar to what GM did in 2010. More of Toyota’s luxury models can be purchased from Richmond Lexus Dealers. GM raised a substantial amount of money to help the company compete with domestic and foreign automakers such as Suzuki, whose latest models can be purchased from a PA Suzuki Dealership.

Chrysler’s CEO also said that it was reasonable to expect an IPO, but that an IPO was not a guaranteed thing for the company. Chrysler recently filed with the SEC and said that the company is ready to go public again. The CEO said that he wants to do it properly and that issuing securities takes time. In January, the CEO said that there would be an IPO held in the second half of 2011, but it seems as if this will not be occurring in 2011.images1 Chrysler IPO to possibly launch in 2012;

The IPO will depend on the need for liquidity at Chrysler as well as the UAW which must sell its stake in Chrysler in order for the company to hold an IPO. Fiat owns a 25 percent stake in Chrysler at the moment and can take a 10 percent further share in the company if sales goals are met in markets outside of the United States. At the moment the UAW owners 64 percent of Chrysler after Fiat increased it’s shares of the company. Sales in Brazil for the company are also ready to begin as Chrysler is expanding to new markets.

Japanese earthquake reduces car exports;

Nissan plant Tsunami 2011 in Japan 300x199 Japanese earthquake reduces car exports;

The Japanese earthquake and tsunami has affected Japanese automakers including Toyota and Honda, and Honda models can be found at a Louisville Honda Dealership. The earthquake has devastated certain regions of Japan, and the auto industry of Japan is strongly affected by the earthquake and tsunami which has shut down plants in Japan’s northern region and threatened shipments of vehicles. Dealerships such as Honda Dealer Irvine may be affected in the future by a lack of inventory if vehicles cannot be shipped soon enough, but this effect depends on the particular model. Some models are exported from Japan while other models are produced nearer to the market.

Models sold at NM Hyundai Dealership are not affected by this earthquake since Hyundai is a Korean automaker. Automakers such as Toyota, Honda, and Nissan have shut down some of their Japanese production facilities and they may not restart production for several days. The other issue is that transportation networks have been affected throughout Japan including railways, highways, and canals, and the infrastructure needed to transport vehicles overseas will have to be rebuilt before this can be a consideration. Although many factories were not extensively damaged, the networks that ship their products were in many cases damaged.

OB NA021 port E 20110313120202 300x199 Japanese earthquake reduces car exports;

The damage of the earthquake and tsunami causes logistical problems for many industries in Japan due to the transportation damage and other problems such as electrical power outages. Many Japanese citizens are currently without power, and the next few weeks will be focused on restoring power to these citizens and basic infrastructure so that commerce and trade can resume. The stock market in Japan is also negatively impacted as during the first day of sales stocks plummeted, and stocks for Japanese automakers have also dropped due to these problems. Many models are not affected by the tsunami  but some are just as the Yaris, Scion models, and the Honda Insight.

Fraudulent Claims Tarnish Reputation

Prius Fraudulent Claims Tarnish Reputation

Everyone loves a good headline and while it is true that all news is good news for San Antonio Ford Dealer, there are some people out there who are realizing that the media can sometimes be unfair in their reports.  There are recall headlines on a daily basis that affect this country, but everyone is going to remember the Toyota unintended acceleration problems for the rest of their lives.  These acceleration problems did not impact Kingston Honda and the vehicles they sell.  New reports indicate, without any doubt, that the Toyota vehicles did not malfunction and any problems were related to faulty floor mats and sticky gas pedals.  People put the wrong type of floor mats in their cars from Virginia Honda Dealership, but no one makes a big fuss about that!

You undoubtedly heard reports from consumers claiming that their Toyota Prius vehicles would accelerate to nearly 100 miles without them intending to do so.  For as long as we can remember, Toyota was the number one automaker in the world, and this recall business threatened their reputation.  While some analysts out there guessed that Toyota would never be able to recover from the headlines, there are signs that things are turning up for the popular Japanese brand.

For 2010, Toyota produced the third top selling vehicle for the United States.  It was odd that the top two sellers of last year were both full size pickup trucks, but this year is likely to show a shift back to normalcy.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating the claims of unintended acceleration related to some faulty electrical problem since the issues first were discovered.  Their thorough investigation has concluded that there is no possible way that Toyota’s electrical systems caused these problems, and the only logical explanation is that drivers panicked and stomped on the accelerator when they thought they were stomping on the brakes.

The $33 Million IRS Mistake!

Plug In Car 300x201 The $33 Million IRS Mistake! It is not quite sure how some owners of vehicles from Dodge Dealers Kingwood thought that their gas guzzler qualified for a fuel efficiency tax credit, but they did.  Because of errors by approximately 14,000 tax payers, the IRS is doing an audit for the entire lot of car credits filed.  They will be checking to see when those vehicles at Ford Dealers Texas were produced to make sure that the ones that are actually correct for the credit match up with the dates that were followed.  It is understandable that some of the fuel efficient cars, such as the Focus from Huntsville Ford, might get mixed up in the error.  The Ford Focus has great fuel efficiency and perhaps those owners thought that the tax credit was applicable based on miles per gallon.  That is understandable, but, claiming a Dodge Durango, Cadillac Escalade, and Hummer H3 are by no means fuel efficient, and now this audit is going to cost tax payers additional money.

Audit 195x300 The $33 Million IRS Mistake! The tax credits are currently in place for electric or alternative fuel vehicles, and the vehicles that fall under that category are far fewer than they have been in prior years.  While the Toyota Prius used to come with a handsome tax credit for owners, it no longer qualifies.  The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration performed an audit and discovered that 20% of these credits were erroneously filed.  That equates to $33 million worth of tax credits going to people who should not have gotten them.  The IRS will be busy trying to correct the problems, and these credits are meant solely for electric vehicles.

Interestingly enough, there were 88 incarcerated prisoners who claimed they had purchased electric plug-in vehicles and ended up getting $155,000 worth of credits.  When you figure that the government is offering $7,500 for people who buy the Chevy Volt or Nissan Leaf and their forms don’t provide proper documentation to prove ownership, people are very tempted to fudge the truth on their taxes.  However, now that these errors have come to light, you can expect more stringent documentation and the IRS plans on adding a line on tax forms for the VIN and the internet tax databases will be updated sooner rather than later.

Gas Prices On the Rise!

High Gas Prices Gas Prices On the Rise!

If you ask the employees about the fastest selling vehicles at Nissan Dealership New York, they will probably report back to you that their hybrid and compact models sell faster than their truck line up.  It is more than frustrating as a consumer to watch gas prices rise, fall, and then rise even more and we are pretty much helpless to stop the price trends.  Besides doing our part and buying the more economical cars from Nissan Dealership Salisbury, there are a few other tips and tricks that American consumers are being forced to implement in order to save money wherever we can.  According to a Nielsen survey, shoppers are realizing that they are better off buying an economical car from Scion Dealership MD and altering their driving habits if they really want to save money.

Think back to 2008 when gas prices averaged $4.11 per gallon.  Drivers were being very conscious of their driving habits and they were planning out their daily errands so that they were as fuel efficient as possible.  By lowering the amount of time that drivers were on the road, they were forced to find new ways to commute and we now see fewer drivers on the road today because the habits have carried over.  Even when the fuel prices dipped to an average of $1.61 per gallon later in 2008, drivers still were off the roads as much as possible.

Right now, the fuel price is averaging $3.05 per gallon.  That is tough on everyone’s budget and consumers spend less in other areas as well.  If you are unable to afford gas for daily use, then people are less likely to take vacations and long road trips.  One positive result of the steep gas prices has been that auto makers are being forced by the U.S. Department of Energy to improve the fuel economy averages of all the vehicles they sell.  If we are able to drive more fuel efficient vehicles then the price of fuel becomes less expensive.  At the close side of this vicious circle is that these new fuel efficient vehicles often have expensive technology components that increase the price of the vehicle.

Toyota lawsuits will go on trial in 2013;

prius 300x219 Toyota lawsuits will go on trial in 2013;

There will be quite a while before the first lawsuits for Toyota vehicles that were affected by defects and were involved in accidents. Bradenton Chevy Dealers sell models which are not affected by the recalls that Toyota issued. There are a number of lawsuits pending against Toyota stemming from the series of recalls that began in late 2009 and went on throughout 2010. The latest Chevrolet Dealer News has shown that Chevy models have not been affected by the same recalls. The recalls involved an accelerator defect that resulted in a number of accidents. A study later came out and showed that the defect was mechanical and not due to the vehicle’s computer.

Also check out Phoenix Certified Volkswagen CC for deals on high quality Volkswagen models. There are several lawsuits pending related to the sudden acceleration defect. A federal judge bundled the lawsuits and said that the first cases should be tried during the first months of 2013. There will be a pre-trial discovery of evidence that will continue into 2012 and this should be completed before 2013. The announcement was made during a January 14 hearing by U.S. District Judge James V. Selna. At the moment, Toyota is looking at nearly 400 lawsuits that are related to the company’s recall of several million vehicles.

There are other lawsuits that will be going on trial in Texas in February or March of 2012. These lawsuits deal with personal injury claims. Attorneys for both sides of the case agreed to the timetable set by Selna. The claims of both parties will be tested before the lawsuit begins. Toyota is looking at several years of lawsuits and legal problems that stem from these recalls. A large payout could implicate Toyota’s guilt in the cases, however recent studies have shown that Toyota’s vehicles were not likely to suddenly accelerate without some type of mechanical influence.

New Car Smell Causes Accident!

Hit and Run Trial 300x208 New Car Smell Causes Accident!Tons of shoppers from places like Pennsylvania Lincoln Dealers are likely to agree that one of the best things about buying a new car is the “new car smell” that comes along with the deal.  Sure, you have probably heard reports that your favorite scent is actually toxic and causes cancer because of the chemicals that emit the smell; then again, what does not cause cancer?  Even if you buy a used vehicle from Los Angeles Lincoln Dealers, you can purchase “new car smell” car air fresheners to make your used purchase feel newer.  Recent news reports that a driver is blaming the toxic effects of “new car smell” for their hit-and-run accident, and the vehicle involved did not come from Ford Dealership New York, although all new vehicles have a similar smell.

Caution New Car Smell New Car Smell Causes Accident!Back in July of 2010, Martin Joel Erzinger was involved in a hit-and-run accident with a bicyclist.  Erzinger was driving a new Mercedes-Benz that was barely a month old.  The reports indicate that he must have dozed off while behind the wheel, and his lawyers are attempting to blame the sleeping episode on the noxious new car smell and fumes being emitted.  It was also reported that Erzinger suffers from sleep apnea.  The bicyclist sustained injuries and has a long recovery ahead of him.

It really does seem like the things we love most in life are truly bad for us.  It has yet to be determined if blaming the “new car smell” will work as a viable defense in the courtrooms, but they might have a point.  Research has shown that the organic compounds that are emitted from the new upholstery, vinyl, and plastics inside a vehicle can cause a wide array of problems for people, including cancer.  The fumes that are emitted are even stronger on a hot day when the windows are up.  According to reports, Mercedes-Benz refused to comment about the entire ordeal, and it is hard to find fault in their decision.  Consumers want new vehicles, even if that new car comes with cancer causing volatile organic compounds oozing from the plush seats!

Car Complaints Really Add Up

Car Logos Car Complaints Really Add Up

Despite how reputable the vehicles at places like Boston Toyota Dealership who carry Toyota vehicles, 16% of consumers still had something to complain about regarding their current Toyota vehicle.  It might still have something to do with the hefty amount of recalls in the recent years, but on the other hand, the vehicles over at Kentucky Toyota Dealers are still selling quickly enough for most of the brand’s dealerships to keep their doors open.  However, Dodge Dealers Alexandria need to be on their toes because Chrysler LLC took home the award for the most complaints by brand, with 4.1 complaints per 100,000 vehicles sold.

These statistics were tabulated by the expert analysts over at Edmunds who noticed that while the NHTSA does a great job of issuing recalls to keep drivers safe, a lot of the complaints that drivers notice on a daily basis seem to fall through the cracks.  If you have a complaint about your vehicle, you can fill out an online form or there is even a hotline you can call.  The NHTSA works closely with the ODI (Office of Defects Investigation) with regards to the complaints being made.  However, most of us have filled out these online generated forms and what one person might claim to be a billing issue someone else might classify as a service issue.  Because the filters aren’t foolproof, Edmunds has taken upon themselves the task of sorting through all the complaints to get a true sense of what is going on out there.

Because there are just far too many complaints to read all of them, Edmunds has begun their research as of complaints that were filed after January 1, 2005 and is only paying attention to complaints being made about vehicles made from 2005 and newer.  Consumers complain about a wide range of topics, all the way from powertrain complaints, seatbelts, headlights, and everything in between.  We are happy to report that November 2010 has had the lowest amount of complaints and represents an 18% decrease compared to September and a 6% decrease compared to October.

EVs Have A Lot of Growing Up To Do!

EV Fuel 300x184 EVs Have A Lot of Growing Up To Do!It is tough to open up your email or scroll the main website search engines without being bombarded with images of electric vehicles.  Many Americans are under the impression that pretty soon all the cars from Volkswagen Santa Ana will be the plug and drive type of powertrain.  There are plenty of people out there who think that this would be our ideal vehicle future, but that is a separate argument.  There are some major points to clarify so that people are well aware that Volkswagen Orillia will still be supplying regular old gasoline engine types of vehicles.  Some brands, such as Rochester Suzuki Dealers, are so focused on overall performance that they have not tackled the issue of electric vehicle design.

The main reason electric cars are not poised to take over the auto world anytime soon has to do with cost.  American consumers are quite comfortable with the idea of freedom of choice.  You can easily swing by a Ford dealership and spend $15,000 or so on a great vehicle that is going to last you a long time or you could spend $40,000 on something with more bells and whistles.  Americans like the option to be picky and thrifty, and electric vehicles take away both of those choices.  The vehicles are all pretty expensive right now; partially because auto brands need to recuperate their research and development investment costs and also the battery packs are not available in a discount form.

Tesla Roadster 300x224 EVs Have A Lot of Growing Up To Do!Tesla is producing their stylish roadsters that start out around $110,000 but it is also a very attractive vehicle.  The remainder of the electric vehicles (Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt, Mitsubishi i-MiEV, etc) is fairly run of the mill in design.  Sure, there are a few futuristic design elements but for the most part, they are entry level sedans with a hefty price tag.  Look at it like you are spending $15,000 or so for the actual vehicle but then it is $25,000 for the electric battery components.  When battery prices drop, demand will probably sky rocket.

9 Cars That Could Be Safer

Inside a Car 9 Cars That Could Be Safer

For as much money as you spend Mercedes Deals Washington, you would expect that it would be a safe choice for you and your passengers.  However, it has just been brought to our attention that there are still nine vehicles that are being produced for 2011 without electronic stability control (ESC).  Luckily, none of the cars from Concord Mitsubishi Dealers are on this hot list.  There were quite a few vehicles back in 2010 that did not offer the safety technology as a standard feature, but laws that go into effect in 2012 will require that all vehicles come standard with ESC.  Until then, your next Chevrolet Aveo Columbus purchase will not come with ESC.

What makes the fact that nine cars are lagging in the safety department even more frustrating is that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) just implemented new and improved crash test ratings because so many vehicles were receiving perfect scores, so they had to make the process more stringent to encourage further safety technology developments.  There are safety regulations that go into effect in 2012 that will require ESC be a standard feature, so why are so many auto makers waiting until the last minute to include the technology?

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety compiled results that for 2010 approximately 85% of vehicles came standard with ESC.  It was impressive that 100% of SUVs have the technology, but only 88% of cars include it.  Cars are especially vulnerable in the event of a multiple car collision because they weigh considerably less than SUVs and trucks.  The NHTSA estimates that it will cost consumers around $111 more to have the safety feature on cars, but that by making it mandatory, approximately 10,000 lives will be saved annually.  The nine offenders for 2011 that do not offer ESC as a standard feature (and some don’t even offer it at all) include: Chevrolet Aveo, Dodge Caliber, Honda Civic, Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio, Mazda RX-8, Nissan Frontier, Nissan Versa, and Suzuki SX4.
