Fraudulent Claims Tarnish Reputation

Prius Fraudulent Claims Tarnish Reputation

Everyone loves a good headline and while it is true that all news is good news for San Antonio Ford Dealer, there are some people out there who are realizing that the media can sometimes be unfair in their reports.  There are recall headlines on a daily basis that affect this country, but everyone is going to remember the Toyota unintended acceleration problems for the rest of their lives.  These acceleration problems did not impact Kingston Honda and the vehicles they sell.  New reports indicate, without any doubt, that the Toyota vehicles did not malfunction and any problems were related to faulty floor mats and sticky gas pedals.  People put the wrong type of floor mats in their cars from Virginia Honda Dealership, but no one makes a big fuss about that!

You undoubtedly heard reports from consumers claiming that their Toyota Prius vehicles would accelerate to nearly 100 miles without them intending to do so.  For as long as we can remember, Toyota was the number one automaker in the world, and this recall business threatened their reputation.  While some analysts out there guessed that Toyota would never be able to recover from the headlines, there are signs that things are turning up for the popular Japanese brand.

For 2010, Toyota produced the third top selling vehicle for the United States.  It was odd that the top two sellers of last year were both full size pickup trucks, but this year is likely to show a shift back to normalcy.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating the claims of unintended acceleration related to some faulty electrical problem since the issues first were discovered.  Their thorough investigation has concluded that there is no possible way that Toyota’s electrical systems caused these problems, and the only logical explanation is that drivers panicked and stomped on the accelerator when they thought they were stomping on the brakes.

Say It Isn’t So…Another Toyota Recall!

give up 300x240 Say It Isnt So...Another Toyota Recall! Toyota is not doing to well lately.  It seems they have one hurdle to get over and another one comes.  Some where Toyota lost something or someone that was doing the best job of having the reputation in America that they were dependable.  I see them now just like so many other manufacturers.  Engineers need to slow down and really see what they are designing, if it will work.  Instead, consumers months or years later, start to receive recall letters.  It is such an inconvenience to visit the dealership to take care of things that should never be an issue.  Especially, if you do not receive some kind of “loaner” vehicle.  Silverado Deals Bradenton has reliability and customer service with a loaner program if needed.

Toyota now has another recall, say it isn’t so.  Toyota will be repairing 1.53 million Avalons and Highlander’s  for two different problems.  The break master cylinder seal and the fuel pump wiring, need to be repaired due to leaks.  Toyota does plan on recalling vehicles in the U.S. alone, separately and is deciding on whether or not to file an official recall in other countries.  The numbers for just the U.S. are about 740,000 Avalons, Highlander, Lexus GS300, the IS 250 and IS 350.   It does not only effect the U.S. but the other countries also, awaiting will be South America, Oceania, Africa, China and Europe. One reason Toyota will recall vehicles in the U.S. separately is because with the unintended acceleration, reports showed that the company knew of the problem before it devastated so many lives.  They waited to long before notifying National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  So, Toyota was fined a hefty fine.  Toyota paid it with no questions asked. Cincinnati Ford has reported the high amount of trade-ins coming to the lot from Toyota.

toyota recall 300x225 Say It Isnt So...Another Toyota Recall!There have been no accidents reported from these two defects.  Toyota is not disclosing the impact of the cost of repairs this will have on the company itself.  This revelation of another recall just came after the last announcement of almost two months ago.  Toyota recalled the Corolla and the Matrix in the U.S. including Canada.  An estimate of 1.3 million were recalled due to defective engine control modules that could cause the vehicle to stall.  The other big recall that everyone knows about due to all the fatalities associated with them was the unintended accelerating and that carried 14 million vehicles recalled.  Just looking at other recalls, Peoria Volkswagen has not had as many recalls compared to that of Toyota.

Toyota has a major mountain to overcome.  American people are forgiving, but the hits just keep coming.  Will Toyota ever recover from this?  Only time will tell, but it does not help when the Lexus brand has recalls also.  That is to be luxury and top notch, it is almost that it is being botched with the Camry’s and Avalons.  I know I will never buy a used Toyota or even a new Toyota in years to come.

Toyota Engine Belt Defect;

toyota corolla matrix 2009 02 300x199 Toyota Engine Belt Defect;

Toyota has a new engine belt defect on its Corolla and Matrix models that affects over 10,000 vehicles. Models sold by dealers such as Mercedes-Benz C-Class Manchester dealerships and others are not affected by this recall. The Toyota Corolla and Toyota Matrix models can be repaired at dealerships, and those who are affected by the defect will receive notification by mail in the middle of October. Toyota and other models can also be repaired at Richmond Collision Center and other collision centers.

Ashland Ford Dealers also provide a number of great vehicles that are defect free in recent years like the Ford Fusion and Ford Focus.  The defect involves an accessory engine belt that may deteriorate quickly and then detach from the engine. There are approximately 9,400 Corolla models affected and about 1,340 Matrix models affected. The affected vehicles use the 2ZR-FE engine and this engine’s accessory belt transfers force from the engine to the air cooling unit of the vehicle. The engine is thought to overheat and from the detachment and the water pump may also pull free.

The vehicles that are affected by the latest recall were assembled in the United States in the early spring of 2010. Since around this time in 2009, Toyota has issued many recalls that have affected over 15 million vehicles worldwide. The latest defect will be repaired by dealerships. They will inspect the belts and fix any problems without cost. The time required to fix the defect is about a half an hour. About fifty percent of the fan belts that are used in the repair campaign will be replaced. The Corolla and Matrix are popular sedan models in the United States, and the defect is not expected to strongly affect sales because of being less dangerous. Sales for the Toyota Prius and other models temporarily plummeted after the widespread coverage of what was thought to be a potential throttle defect.

Allstate Suing Toyota

Allstate Logo Allstate Suing ToyotaThe folks who work at Honda CR-V Springfield can rest easy because they have not been plagued by the amounts of press and recalls that fellow Japanese auto maker Toyota has faced.  The newest headlines report that Allstate is suing Toyota for $3 million because of their unintended acceleration problems.  Even if you bought your Toyota from Providence Dealership, this news still applies to you in one way or another.  It is frustrating as a consumer to read such headlines because for so many years Toyota was one of the most reputable companies across the globe.

Toyota Logo 300x258 Allstate Suing ToyotaWhile Toyota may not put the luxury into their vehicles like Mercedes-Benz of Alexandria does, Toyota is known for producing safe cars that will last longer than you would ever imagine.  However, there have been unprecedented amounts of recalls and press regarding ill-fitting floor mats, sticking gas pedals, and supposed electrical problems that would cause a vehicle to speed up without the driver intentionally doing so.  When Toyota has attempted to recreate those problems, they have not been able to.  Toyota has tested more than 4,000 vehicles in the United States and have not been able to discover any electrical problem that could cause unintended acceleration.

There has been a lot of press saying that the major lawsuits being brought against Toyota were all going to be dropped because the drivers were found to be at fault, not Toyota’s engines.  It makes us wonder, as consumers, why Allstate feels they have the right to sue Toyota for money they had to pay out in claims.  Other insurance companies are likely to join in the lawsuit, and some estimate that Toyota will be sued for $10 billion when all is said and done.  But, if there is no electrical problem to blame and the floor mats and gas pedals were all fixed, then is Toyota really still the appropriate scapegoat?

Toyota and GM Issue New Recall;

toyota corolla matrix 2009 02 300x199 Toyota and GM Issue New Recall;

Both Toyota and GM, whose pre-owned vehicles can be purchased at CT used car dealers, have issued a new recall for their models.  Toyota is announcing the recall of many models due to complaints of engine stalling.  GM has found complaints on models as well.  Be sure to check out Mazda 3 Deals on the Mazda 3 which so far as not had any complaints of engine stalling. Around 1.3 million vehicles from the years 2005-2008 are being recalled for these complaints.  Toyota will issue a recall of 1.1 million Corolla models and Corolla Matrix models.  There were 1,000 complaints of engine stalling with these models.

Also, look at your local Volkswagen Dealer for models which are high quality and are built with the latest manufacturing standards.  GM will recall 200,000 models of the Pontiac Vibe which was also receiving complaints of engine stalling.  The Vibe is a sister vehicle for the Corolla Matrix which is why both models are affected by the same defect.  Toyota had engine control problems with the Corolla models that were contributing to the engine stalling problems.

The electric component used to protect the vehicle’s circuits from voltage may develop cracks at solder points.  The cracks may end up stopping the engine while it is being driven.  The result is that many have experienced dangerous vehicle stoppings while they are driving.  There have been some accidents reported from the engine stallings but no deaths have been reported.

The affected vehicles were all in North America.  The number of recalls issued will add to the current number of Toyota recalls since late last year.  The total number for Toyota recalls is now 12.3 million vehicles around the world with 10.5 million of those vehicles being in the United States.  It seems that the U.S. market has been the most affected by Toyota recalls, however Toyota hopes that these will be the last for a long time.

Did the Media Jump The Gun on Toyota Recall Reports?

2008 toyota highlander hybrid thumb 300x199 Did the Media Jump The Gun on Toyota Recall Reports?

With the recent report that has shown that Toyota’s electronic throttle control is very likely not the cause of the majority of the “sticky accelerator” accidents, the question of whether or not the media was sensationalizing the perceived defect will certainly come into question.  The Ford F-150 did not have any complaints of sticky acclerator problems and the model can be found at dealerships throughout the country.  There was almost non-stop coverage of the Toyota defects on auto blogs and other media sources, and as a result there were more reports of sticky accelerator problems.

Other dealerships like Peoria VW Dealer businesses have benefited from the decrease in competing Toyota model sales.  Many consumers involved in auto accidents in which the driver was at fault ended up claiming a vehicle defect, however there may still be certain defects or problems on some Toyota models that might have contributed to accidents.  Oshkosh Chevrolet and other Chevrolet dealerships have not had to deal with the repercussions of negative media and reputation damage like Toyota dealerships have.

Toyota will have to continue its own investigations and continue to cooperate with government and other agencies that are continuing to investigate the claims of sticky accelerators.  However, it is very likely that Toyota will come out looking much better than it has been.  The company’s reputation to a major hit when many feared that electronic throttle problems were contributing to out of control accelerator.  It has now been shown that electronic throttle controls are very likely not the cause of the cases of unintended acceleration.

However, there are two potential problems with Toyota vehicles that still may have contributed to the acceleration problems.  In some models, the accelerator may have become stuck on floor mats which caused it to accelerate.  In other models the pedals had a tendency to stick.  However, in many cases drivers thought the gas pedal was the brake or did not brake.

Independent Studies Find Driver Error as Cause of Most Toyota Accidents;

2010 prius fd 300x175 Independent Studies Find Driver Error as Cause of Most Toyota Accidents;

A few weeks ago, Toyota made a proclamation that “virtually all” of the unintended acceleration accidents were due to a cause unrelated to electronic throttle control.  Nissan Lake Havasu sells Nissan vehicles which were not affected by the claims of unintended acceleration.  It seems that now this may be the case with other independent studies showing that many of the accidents that were supposedly caused by a “sticky accelerator” were the result of drivers not applying the brakes or other errors.  Volkswagen has not had to deal with such reports along with other automakers, but Toyota had a barrage of reports of unintended acceleration which may have been speculation rather than truth.

Also, look out for annual Ford Specials for discounts on Ford models that are well designed and feature the latest in safety and reliability.  The study found that brakes were not applied in at least 35 out of 58 crashes that were blamed on unintended acceleration.  Other crashes showed that the brakes were only applied partially and in some crashes the data recorder failed.

Electronic throttle controls in over 4,000 investigations by Toyota were not found to be a cause of unintended acceleration.  However, without the conclusions of other independent investigations, Toyota’s study was not sufficient.  The independent studies found in all 60 reviewed cases that there was no evidence of electronic throttle control dysfunction.

In some cases, drivers applied brakes only at the last second.  In other cases, the accelerator stuck to the floor mat of the vehicle and this caused the vehicle to accelerate out of control.  In some cases the gas and brake pedals were pressed at the same time.

Investigations of the unintended acceleration cases will continue by NASA, the United States government, the U.S. Space Agency, and the National Academy of Sciences in order to come to the proper conclusion as to what happened in the other cases.

Toyota Doubts Result in Man Being Freed Prison;

TOCA9596 300x157 Toyota Doubts Result in Man Being Freed Prison;

Toyota doubts about accelerator problems have resulted in a man being freed from prison.  Koua Fong Lee was released from prison today after he was sentenced to 8 years in prison from vehicular manslaughter changes.  Ford Escape Deals offer discounts on the popular Ford Escape model which has not had complaints of any problems thus far.  The vehicle that Lee was driving was a 1996 Toyota Camry, and although this vehicle year was not suspected as having accelerator problems, the doubts on the model were enough to result in Lee being released.  Be sure to check VW Deals for models that are well-built and reliable.

Acura Dealer New Haven dealerships sell the Honda Acura luxury model which is also very reliable and an excellent luxury brand.   Koau Fong Lee was driving a 1996 Camry when he rear ended a vehicle that had three occupants: a young man and two children.  Koau Fong Lee maintained during the whole trial that he was stepping on the brake but the vehicle would not stop.  Lee’s family was with him in his vehicle when the accident occurred.

The accident occurred in 2006, and Lee was found guilty after his attorney said that Lee must have accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake.  The judge ruled that Lee’s attorney made a mistake by not presenting the evidence that Lee had been stepping on the brake and that there was no evidence uncovered of unintended acceleration problems in the vehicle.  After the ruling, the attorney said that she would not pursue additional appeals.

Toyota paid $16.4 million in fines over accelerator problems in May, and Toyota has recalled several million vehicle models over reports of “stick accelerator” problems that may have caused the accident in 2006.  Toyota is now being sued by the family of the three victims although it remains unclear whether there was unintended acceleration in the Camry due to a factory fault.

“Recall is not a 4 Letter Word”

toyota prius 300x164 Recall is not a 4 Letter Word

Toyota’s chief quality officer, Steve St. Angelo said that “Recall is not a 4 letter word” when speaking to an industry audience.  Toyota vehicles can be serviced at a Toyota Quick Lube Dealer Los Angeles.The remarks are related to Toyota’s long string of recalls that began in the fourth quarter of 2009 and continued up until recently.  Toyota is currently rebuilding its image and it posted a solid second quarter after the series of recalls.  Volkswagen and other automakers are hoping to be able to compete with the number one automaker in the world in some of the markets that it has traditionally dominated.

Domestic automakers like GM and Ford have increased their market shares over the past year while Toyota has decreased their own shares and is now in the process of regaining them.  Ford vehicles which are typically defect free can be serviced at an Ohio Ford Service for regular maintenance and other problems.  Toyota has now completed recalls on 80 percent of the vehicles affected by the “sticky accelerator” problem.  The remaining 20 percent have yet to report their vehicles in for a recall, and Toyota’s chief quality executive encouraged them to bring their vehicles in.  However, Toyota said that the 80 percent number is higher than the average for claimed recalls.

Toyota recalled 2.3 million vehicles in the United States over concerns of a “sticky accelerator” and Toyota recalled a total of over 11.2 million vehicles.  Toyota’s chief quality engineer said that he was “100 percent confident that there is noting wrong with our electric throttle system.”  The current investigation is considering whether or not the sticky accelerator was a mechanic problem, a problem caused by driver error, or a problem with the electric throttle.  St. Angelo said that even though Toyota does not think that the throttle was the problem that the company would continue to be vigilant of new problems in new vehicles.

Toyota Avalon Recall.

2002 Avalon Toyota Avalon Recall.

Just yesterday, Toyota announced that they are recalling approximately 412,000 of their upscale passenger vehicles because of a steering problem.  That can be quite frustrating for someone who opted to go with the more luxurious and expensive Avalon rather than the Camry or Corolla.  It is even more annoying when consumers know about all the Ford Incentives being offered right now and Ford has not had near the amount of recalls that Toyota has been part of.  Even with the recent recalls affecting the line up at Reading Chrysler Dodge Dealers, nothing compares to the sheer volume of vehicles that Toyota has recalled recently.  And to think, a nicely equipped passenger vehicle from an AZ Volkswagen Dealer is just as comfortable and convenient as the Toyota Avalon, without the recall headache.

For the Toyota Avalon, model years 2000 through 2004, there are going to be 373,000 vehicles affected by this recall.  Under some possible driving conditions, the steering lock bar could break.  Additionally, there are going to be 39,000 of the LX470 SUVs recalled.  The model years affected for this one is 2003 through 2007, and this recall pertains to the steering shaft becoming disengaged.

As of right now, there have been no injuries related to any of this affected vehicles.  There have been three accidents with the Avalon steering issue, but it is not 100% confirmed that the faulty steering lock bar was the cause for the accidents.  As of right now, no accidents have been reported for the LX470 recall.

For those unfamiliar with these vehicles, the LX470 is the Lexus SUV, one of the first SUVs available on the market.  It received praise for its quality craftsmanship, supple leather, exquisite wood inlay designs, and third-row seating so that eight passengers plus cargo can be carried.  The Avalon is a full size sedan with a standard V6 engine.  The initial versions, released in the mid 1990s, were not anything fancy.  The third generation was released with a complete redesign and now it is a main competitor in the full size sedan class.
