Some of the railways that are used to ship Fiesta parts were still damaged by the hurricane and have not yet been repaired. The 2011 Fiesta is one of the most popular subcompact vehicles to hit dealerships in many years, and supply for the model has been greater than demand for the time being. ‘Consumers were spoiled’ says chief economist of the Center for Automotive Research;
The United States automobile market is not expected to be expanding any time soon. The result of the slowdown of the market has been that many automakers such as Ford and GM have reduced their brands and model offerings and have been forced to lay off workers. McAliden said that the auto industry is experiencing the popping of a bubble that built up between the years of 1997 and 2007. Vehicle inventories have been kept low as a result of the decreased sales and dealerships have adjusted for the lower sales. McAliden said that “consumers were spoiled by years of ‘Keep America Rolling‘ incentive programs, and will not buy.” He went on to say that “We’re stuck at 12 million units.” For some automakers that may prove to be troublesome since North American automakers are currently operating at 60 percent production capacity even with all of the plant shutdowns over the past few years. There may still be some difficult decisions to make in upcoming years if the rate of vehicle sales remains this low, and time will tell how the market will adjust.

The score of 620 is considered to be at the upper end of subprime. The FICO score of a consumer is used to determine the risk that lenders have for offering a loan or a leasing option. Chrysler formerly had a leasing business which collapsed in 2008 after its captive financing company, Chrysler Financial, left the leasing business. This happened because of the decreasing in leasing sales for SUVs and pickups substantially decreased in 2008 when gas prices increased rapidly over a short period of time.
In 2006, leases were 22 percent of every new Chrysler vehicle transaction. During that time, Chrysler had a captive financing company. After Chrysler Financial left the company, the amount of leases substantially decreased to under 1 percent for 2009. The automaker hopes to change that with the new leasing option by Ally Financial.
